SecureMac at Macworld 2010
April 1, 10There was much speculation how Macworld would fare this year without Apple’s presence. As an exhibitor at the show, we had a lot of concerns — first, the dates of the show were moved to a month later than normal, and to Valentine’s Day weekend at that! Second, the location of our booth space on the show floor (which we had reserved a year prior) was moved. We were unsure of how successful the show would be as we sat watching the exhibitor map slowly get smaller and smaller as companies pulled out.
Having experienced past success in the secondary hall (which became the main hall this year), we went in with our glass half-full rather than half-empty. Exhibitors traded thoughts on the show, hoping for good traffic and a good show overall. With the show sporting a new schedule that included part of the weekend, we were all hoping to see fresh faces at the show — now people who worked and went to school during the week would be able to make it out to the show on the weekend.
We finished final preparations with our booth before the show doors opened, and gained confidence as we saw a good crowd building. Our booth was a corner booth next to TUAW. The event had a nice steady flow of people, and the crowd was eager to learn about the latest version of MacScan as well as our lineup of new products for the new year. We handed out tons of booth goodies, including t- shirts of all sizes (S-5XL), demo CDs, pens, stickers, whitepapers, and over 50 pounds of candy! We ran out of everything, as the attendance was much better than anticipated — we hope for continued growth for next year’s event!
This was our fifth year as an exhibitor at Macworld. Although the show was smaller this year, IDG did a good job filling in the gaps to keep the show feeling big! We want to applaud the community — Mac users, press, attendees and exhibitors alike — who made this event a success.
We look forward to seeing everyone at the next event and would love to hear your feedback on your thoughts about the show..
